<div dir="ltr"><div><div>Hi <br><br><br></div>Errietta, myself and a few developers from the Victoria tech community ran an event at U of Vic introducing computer science students to the concepts of open source contribution, with Mozilla Webmaker (code) as the contribution opportunity.<br><br>With curriculum from <a href="http://openhatch.org">Open Hatch</a>,  students learned git/github & IRC (in learn by making fashion).  We also worked on some Webmaker first bugs (thanks to Aki & Kate for providing us these).  <a href="http://tiptoes.ca/open-hatch-mozilla/">It was a success</a>, but really highlighted how learning opportunities for the most basic skills for 'getting involved' is missing (even for CS students).<br><br> I'm wondering if you see a lot of these early challenges for contributors - and whether you think there's a dropping off as a result?  Also (sorry for all the questions), whether you think something like a regular online session teaching some of these basic skills would be of value at all?<br><br>Thanks, <br><br>-Emma<br><br></div><br></div>
