Hi, all. An issue has been raised that we need to discuss.

1) We changed Thimble's URL structure so that rather than using the title in the URL, we would use a unique ID

2) Old URLs continue to work, however, if a user saves these, the URLs will use the new structure

3) Many sites around the web, and indeed our own teaching kits, point to specific URLs.

4) If anyone then edits these URLs, none of those links will work.

This seems like a spicey problem. A redirect solution for old URLs is hard to imagine. Any thoughts?

This seems particularly troublesome given this bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=994298

Turns out that many makes need to be edited to add https resources vs http resources. By editing and saving these makes, many from our own accounts, we'd be making #4 above happen even more
quickly.

Thoughts?
Brett

Webmaker-dev mailing list
Webmaker-dev@mozilla.org
https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/webmaker-dev
