<p class="MsoNormal">Hi everyone, this is just an FYI that I’ve updated the live <a href="http://test262.ecmascript.org/">
test262 website</a> with some major improvements checked into Mercurial a little over a week ago. Specifically, the test262 test harness now supports detection of so-called early errors. In plain English, this simply means we can catch parse-time errors without
reverting to wrapping the relevant JavaScript snippet in a string and passing it to a try/catch-guarded eval. On a related note, the Sputnik to test262 test conversion tool has been updated to take advantage of this new harness feature. Not only are we now
preserving the original semantics of the (negative) test cases, we’ve also gone ahead and preserved more of the Sputnik metadata (e.g., the “assertion” description) for both positive and negative tests.
