reluctance to create an account. If you are subscribing to a
mailing list, you are also "creating an account". You can log in
to the mailman interface. It may just not feel like an account
because you are just using email?</div>

has sufficient tools for fighting spam and bad actors, has minimal
amount of additional maintenance/spam fighting time requirements,
and since we are an email application has some way to interact
with it via email. The second point may be fulfilled either by
using a system that Mozilla has spun up anyway, or one we already
maintain.</div>

Thanks, but as has been mentioned above, subscribing (creating
an account) is not desirable. There is no good reason to require
an account if the purpose is the dissemination of information in
a manner the end user finds comfortable (here, meaning not via a
cartoonish web page with first and third party scripts etc. --
and discourse is worse in those regards but at least has a feed
alternative). <br>
