Hello TB community members,

I hope that you have received the email titled
"[tb-election] Thunderbird Council Elections - Nomination
Deadline: Tuesday, September 23, 2020". As of this date,
as part of the normal electorate, I have not received even
a single nomination. That makes me uneasy.

I would like to urge all of you to consider whether you
want to serve as TB Council member. The last elections,
there was very little choice of candidates, so in fact I
was forced to vote for people that I did not want
to vote for, because there simply were not enough
candidates.

If you care about Thunderbird, please consider whether
you want to help out in this important role. Even if you
have not been deeply involved in the Thunderbird project,
but only been helping out here and there, but you care
about Thunderbird and its future health, and you qualify,
you may stand for the TB Council. If nothing else, to fill
the candidate list, so that we have enough choice.

Please think about why you care about Thunderbird. Why
it's important for you. What you would like to see
preserved.

Also, please think about what is important for you in the
project structure. Transparency, so that you know what's
going on? How the Thunderbird donations are used?
Participation, so that you have a voice and will be
listened to, esp. in important decisions that decide on
the future of the project? That people are constructive,
on both ends of an argument, and seek good solutions?

We really need to have more people standing as TB Council
candidates. People that reflect the wishes of the
Thunderbird users as a whole. We simply do not have enough
candidates. If you care about Thunderbird users and think
that you have a positive, constructive approach, please
consider to help out.

As work load, you can expect 2 meetings per month,
typically on an evening, plus internal mailing list
chatter.
