As you consider the Thunderbird topology going forward please add
to your consideration the need for backup and archiving. The
choices of how things are stored can make implementing a backup
and/or archive from simple to difficult.

Thunderbird users, both personal and business have the need to
backup and archive correspondence in a way that includes the
ability search or index e-mail archives and to host the data
separately from the active location.
