Apart from still supporting Addons, are there any significant
improvements planned in Thunderbird ESR 60.* which can land this
ESR period?

The reason I am asking I just opened 60b3 and was greeted with
the usual message of not being able to access my gmail because
of the whole "less secure apps" google restriction - this may be
due to using an older test profile, or it may be due to recent
changes of google APIs (?).

It was kind of awkward as I got a windows notification which
referred to a non existent support page, and I got 2 warning
emails "Security alert for your linked Google account" with the
usual prompt for switching gmail to accept "Access for less
secure apps". I feel fixing our authentication so that it also
compatible with gmail would be quite a good step for having a
user-friendly product, is that planned, or is it technically
impossible?

Also, I hope I am not lying to my users that they can keep
using legacy Add-ons during the 12 months Tb60.* ESR period
(just making the release video for SmartTemplate4 and I want to
convinve people to buy a yearly license to fund development. I
don't want to make them insecure by saying that I may have to
rewrite and taking a loss of functionality in case Thunderbird
decides to burn the bridges and only allows Web Extensions)

I am still planning to make a separate Tb60 full feature
video before the release, so if there are any new features
you want included / mentioned, please list them on this thread.

Phillip, Ray, can you contact me off list so we can do some
planning on regular Add-on developer meet-ups? I feel there are
not enough hands on deck and I want to avoid bitter
disappointments in 3 or 4 months time when / in case the dev
team just decides unilaterally to scrap any access to
chrome-privileges by Add-ons altogether. We will need time to
rewrite, and possibly need to hire developers / consultants for
this.
