Here are some utopian dreams but even if 1 percent of those comes true i still will be happy:

 I would like to Thunderbird as a separate Project, however following and using the Mozilla code in specific. 

1) TB as the stable and reliable mail client which protects user privacy and is stable for the enterprise.

4) I would like to see some integration with other projects such as enigmail, Cardbook etc.

5) TB as client receiving constant security fixes from the Mozilla core, and following their path.

6) TB merging some of the most successful extensions within their code. 

7) I see TB code base as at least partially documented

8) video for the new comers on how to build a simple extension that does the hello world.

9) more  videos showing how to compile and extend the mail client

10) already moved to git 

11) I would love to see maybe in 10 years a mail Client that completely free from JavaScript. And in order to achieve that i would like Thunderbird can rethink the current commitment to XPCOM in favor of new cross platform technologies such as WebAssembly.
