You know why? Because it's not secure. It cannot possibly be sure. As long as you can just log in on another device and receive your encrypted emails.... what does that mean? Think about it... Anybody who has the password can get to your key and read your emails. Obviously. And the provider has the password, or at least a hashed form of it, and you wouldn't notice any difference, if the app sent your password in cleartext instead.<br class=""></blockquote><div><br class=""></div>Well, before Signal and WhatsApp introduced it, nobody thought it could not be done there either. It’s a bit more difficult for email, as we @pEp found out, but that does not mean it is impossible. While the burden of proof rests with us, you will see automatic E2E and P2P encryption for email is doable when we finally deliver Enigmail/ pEp. </div><div><br class=""></div><div>I continue to strongly believe, ‘Privacy’ can be one of the important differentiators for Thunderbird as it is for Mozilla. May I point all of you to the increasing legislation that demands E2E encryption such as GDPR, German lawyers, etc…Moreover, there is a big enterprise market out there and your only competitor is MS Outlook which does not yet offer E2E encryption functionality. I’m certain some of your enterprise users would appreciate added privacy through encryption. We at pEp even get requests for PoCs with Enigmail/pEp/TB from our B2B customers.</div><div><br class=""></div><div>On another note, I’m sorry to see Ben resign from the TB Council. I had hoped that the new council would present and agree on a viable business plan with the Mozilla Foundation to secure a sufficient stream of funding for a sustainable future. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div>Regards,</div><div class="">-ba<br class=""><div class="">
