I'm trying to find other source of those "10 crazy points" that Theresa May is supposedly proposing, but I can not find any other source than Doctorow. <br><br></div>Those point are unrealistic are very hard to accomplish.<br></div><br>If country will try to ban open source software, they will also have to do an important changes to their copyright laws. Since open source licenses works over copyright laws, any change on those laws can also harm other industry that depends heavily on copyrights. <br><br></div>Also, if they want to ban crypto from the UK, the UK should stop online shopping at once, since credit cards transactions are encrypted. <br><br></div>Banning open source will also create a chaos on the UK industry, since a lot of technology now depends on open source software. <p>After the Tories have already signed into law the so called
"Snooper Charter" Theresa May now wants to band crypto
technologies, free open source operating systems, block major
code repositories like Github / Sourceforge and OS makers
ordered to only allow white listed software to run.</p>

<p>I am of course not sure how much of this is even factual but
I think it should definitely be discussed by both Thunderbird
and Mozilla's councils and some public statements warning
against these myopic tendencies should be made.</p>
<p>I know that most of these proposals are probably not even
enforceable but make no mistake, if there is no resistance,
then laws on this can be made. So it would be great of there
were some official statements from our combined open source
communities.<br>
