I would like to know why people were wanting this feature for
such a long time, and lay out the argument for it in my video.<br>
<p>I would also try to create & showcase a userChrome hack
to replace the right arrow with a more obvious icon in order
to make it more acceptable.</p>

Some background might be gleaned from the linked bug reports
requesting the feature:<br>

Looking at a couple of the more emotional comments in the ticket
Jim referred to had me scrambling to fire up v45 (I'm still on v38
on Ubuntu). The feature *itself* at a quick look (and once one
understands what the arrow means) does seem like a net
improvement.<br>

<p>I was hoping for a TL;DR version of the argument. In my daily
work with Thunderbird I found that it is actually harder to parse
out my own emails in threaded view than it used to be. I would
already have hacked it, except that currently DOMi is broken and
doesn't allow changing the document tree anymore.</p>
<p>I already opened a bug and <a
href="https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1267157">suggested
a patch</a> but for some reason the repackaged/ patched version
breaks things for me (may be caused by removing meta-inf ?), so I
am currently unable to modify the DOM for testing a userChrome
hack.</p>
<p>Unfortunately tools like console2 and Dom inspector are not
maintained with the same urgency as my own addons - offered
patches are often ignored for months before a fix becomes
available to the public.<br>
