    The goal would be to at least have maildir be selectable in the
    Advanced Configuration dialog at the time of account creation. This
    is the existing UI, and it works for POP3 but not for IMAP (which
    needs fixing). So the current UI, once we get the IMAP Advanced
    Dialog to work, is close to what we want.<br>

    Obviously we also need a method to migrate from one form to another.<br>

      I disagree.  I don’t think most people care what the underlying
      storage format is, and so once we believe maildir is at an
      acceptable level of stability and performance, we should just
      switch to it automatically.  (Only for new accounts at first, so
      that we don’t hang people’s machines on upgrade.  ;)  But perhaps
      we could also provide an “Upgrade storage format” button that had
      a progress bar and stuff in a later version.)

                Anyway, my initial impression is that maildir visibility

                If you just installed TB, you will be prompted with
                account creation wizard. That wizard has NO reference to
                maildir at all. To enable it, you must go trough whole
                wizard, setup everything, but don't click "FINISH".<br

                When you have setup everything, go advanced setting, and
                then find your account, go to SERVER SETTINGS, then on
                very bottom, there is small text "TYPE OF MESSAGE
                STORAGE", switch to maildir and OK.<br class="">

                This is not very intuitive and most people will not even
                know maildir exists. Type of storage should me inside
                accout setup wizard.<br class="">
