My point is, the system requirements page should spell out our level of support. Leaving Windows 8 off the page simply invites questions.<br></blockquote><div><br>In fact, Aero is disabled by default in Win 8. It might also be worth mentioning on the requirements page that since there's no TB app, TB won't run on a Surface RT tablet, since the RT only runs Windows Store apps (the desktop TB will run on the Surface Pro which has the full Win 8).<br>
<br>The Mail tile on the Start screen only indicates new mail in your IMAP webmail accounts (currently only Gmail, I think) and Hotmail or Outlook.com. I haven't used the Mail app much myself, but if I do I will report my findings if there's anything noteworthy.<br>

The problem is not only if Thunderbird runs on Win8, but also how it is<br>

As mentioned in my tb-planning post, yes, of course Firefox does<br>
support Windows 8. But I don't believe it is a given that just<br>
because Fx does that we do too. And the fact that it's not in TB<br>
system requirements implies WE (Thunderbird) do not.<br>
