Topicbox looks very interesting, but there is one thing that I found
very interesting indeed...

In the words of the creators, it is built directly on top of one of my
favorite Enhancement requests for Thunderbird: the new JMAP protocol!

So yet another reason that adding support for JMAP would put thunderbird
in a class of its own.

I would suggest finding some developer time to start work on this asap:
