Many thanks for that! Looking in there, the bug report that covers my
concern appears to be 859011 (last posting 12 months ago).

I am sending this from Linux Kmail (from which I have been hoping to move to
TBird) using maildir, and in fact have been testing Tbird for over a year now
(currently using 45.1.0) using a dual POP3 feed, and has been working very
well.
I initialised the mail folder with a clone of my Kmail /mail folder.

The one maildir shortcoming I found earlier was that when initialising the
mail folder (and also whenever it is updated by adding maildir files) - it was
necessary to manually request a 'repair' (resync?) of the folder for the
changes to be seen.

I could not see in 859011 (or anywhere else) reference to that step becoming
automatic - as it is with Kmail.
$64 question: Is that now in place?

I apologise most humbly for hi-jacking this thread w.r.t. the above maildir
problem, which perhaps also inhibits others moving over to TBird.

It's great to see the various UI improvements that are being discussed!

Regards,
