Discussion about issues in Firefox core causing (much-hated) deficiencies in Thunderbird

There recently has been some discussion about XUL and multiline tree
view. We have learned that it will be difficult, if not impossible, to
push a new feature only required by Thunderbird.

Therefore I would like to draw the attention - once again - to two old
bugs, also in the Firefox core, which offer more "bang for the buck" and
where I have already heard from Ehsan Akhgari that there is some
interest in getting them fixed.

I am mentioning them again, so it can be assured that they have
sufficient "visibility".

Here are two bugs which affect all users using font settings when
composing e-mail and all those using inline spell-checking on a daily basis:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=756984 (carry-over from bug
250539, ten years old)
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1100966 (broken since the
days of Firefox 4.0).
Note: The issue of bug 1100966 existed long before this bug was raised
by myself, I merely tried to focus the issue onto one bug only.

I hope the purpose of this "planning" list is also to conceive a plan to
get some old and much-hated bugs fixed.
