In fact, Aero is disabled by default in Win 8.  It might also be worth
mentioning on the requirements page that since there's no TB app, TB won't
run on a Surface RT tablet, since the RT only runs Windows Store apps (the
desktop TB will run on the Surface Pro which has the full Win 8).

The Mail tile on the Start screen only indicates new mail in your IMAP
webmail accounts (currently only Gmail, I think) and Hotmail or
Outlook.com.  I haven't used the Mail app much myself, but if I do I will
report my findings if there's anything noteworthy.
