To be clear, SQLAlchemy is "higher level" in the sense that it is
database agnostic, but SQLAlchemy *core*, is not an ORM, it is a set of
tools for programmatically generating sql expressions, and managing
connections and sessions.  SQLAlchemy has an ORM, but it is a
separate layer, built on top of the expression language, which is fairly
low level.  It is a very robust system that is worth looking into for
inspiration, whether the path Rust takes is more type-oriented or not.
