RR_MAGIC_SAVE_DATA_FD is/was a debugging feature to cheaply verify blobs of
memory across record/replay that checksumming either couldn't, or couldn't
do efficiently.  I'd planned to use it for automatic syscallbuf param
checking in https://github.com/mozilla/rr/issues/195 .  rr users can also
(ab)use it to stash away data that they could cheaply correlate with the
rest of the trace, like for example screenshots.  But this was never used
AFAIK.
