I agree it feels pretty jargony, and I'd bet most users won't understand it without some explanation... except that it's also a term not easily explained as it kind of needs you to understand that the toolbar can "overflow" in the first place.

Hi,
Following Gijs' suggestion and moving discussion to the mailing list.

Bug 1354078 is adding a couple of new strings: "Pin to Overflow Menu" and "Unpin from Overflow Menu".
https://mozilla.invisionapp.com/share/ENBBK0F9U#/screens/229252091_Customization

My first reaction: I have no clue what "Overflow Menu" is, it sounds like a new feature (awesome bar, search bar, etc.). Turns out it's something that has been around for a while, I just had no idea that was its name.

Too bad there are no mentions in SUMO, there are currently zero strings referring to such UI element in the entire codebase, and even a Google search for it would only find irrelevant results for Fennec.

The localization note that Gijs is adding helps a lot[1], but still: do you think users are going to understand what "Pin to/Unpin From Overflow Menu" mean? Is that something that onboarding is going to fix and explain?

True, "it has existed for a while now without people being bothered by it or its name", but it interaction was limited and it wasn't used in user facing commands.
