<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Hello,<br><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">I've been compiling ideas of telemetry probes we can add to the current code for the existing telemetry service in order to measure usage and accuracy of the password management features of Firefox.The primary focus is on probes where we should see changes as a result of the improvements in the coming year. For example, we would likely want to see a probe counting the total number of saved signons (<a title="ASSIGNED - Add telemetry to measure the number of saved passwords for a user" href="https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1118839" target="_blank">bug 1118839</a>) increase as we are able to save passwords on more sites, promote the feature, and people come to rely on it. The number would also likely drop as we add realm support (multiple origins sharing a single signon entry).<br><br>The list of telemetry bugs which I have filed so far (mostly related to Q1 work)  can be found here: <br><a href="https://mnoorenberghe.github.io/password-bugs/?list=password-telemetry&flags=1&maxdepth=1" target="_blank">https://mnoorenberghe.github.io/password-bugs/?list=password-telemetry&flags=1&maxdepth=1&meta=0</a> <br><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">I have some other probe ideas related to password hygiene which I haven't filed as we aren't trying to move the needle on that respect in Q1 AFAICT. I've put some early ideas for those in a new meta bug: <a href="https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1121320">https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1121320<br></a><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">I'm interested in knowing thoughts on the proposed probes (e.g. if the data won't be useful for some reason e.g. if it'll be severely skewed) and other ideas of probes we can put in the existing code that will help us measure the impact of changes in the coming quarters. Note that these probes are recording any data other than counts/ages so they can use the existing telemetry framework. We'll have a separate discussion about how we would possibly get details about problems on specific websites.<br><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Cheers,<br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Matthew N. (:MattN)<br></div></div>
