Hello fellow nightly
testers :-)

OS: Windows Vista SP2, en-US locale, 32bit
with the latest
(July 12th 2016) Windows Updates.

Firefox Nightly version (obviously,
this is the win32 compile):

50.0a1 Build ID:20160713030216
cset=04821a70c739

Until very recently, when you went to the addons
manager
(AOM) in about:addons and selected the plugins tab,
about:addons
=> Plugins
there existed a "Check to see if your plugins are up to date"
link at the very top.

Likewise, if you visited the "Troubleshooting
Information"
page (about:support) and clicked on the "about:plugins" link,
about:support => about:plugins
there was a
"Find updates for
installed plugins at mozilla.com/plugincheck"
option at the top of the
page...

Currently, both plugincheck options have vanished :-{

I've
done some bisection, which yielded the following:

Last good build:
buildID=20160711143737, cset:214884d507ee
First bad build:
buildID=20160712030234, cset:aac8ff1024c5

Regression range:

https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=214884d507ee&tochange=aac8ff1024c5

How
astonished was I to find that all that
was done by design (!? :-{ ??)
The offending changeset is f7a95ad12750,

https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/f7a95ad12750

pushed to
"fix" bug
#1277905

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1277905

NOT
A USER-SUBMITTED BUG (all those have
smaller priorities, don't get me
started...) but a
dev created bug, designed to promote another one
of
their inane, ill-thought, GUI modifications;
apologies for the rant, but I
honestly believe
the devs are shooting themselves in the foot once more!
It's not a big secret Firefox is losing marketshare,
but in their strive
to win new users, Mozilla
will continue to lose current faithfuls!

I"ve been with Firefox since 2007, v2.0.0.7
I believe it was, but
very disappointed now
with the way it's heading...

To remedy this
latest change, I've created
a bookmark to:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

If your locale is non
en-US, modify accordingly, e.g.

https://www.mozilla.org/fr/plugincheck/

or

https://www.mozilla.org/el/plugincheck/

Regards.
