Unfortunately your suggestions did not resolve the
problem. I have taken<br>
a screen shot of the settings in <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="About:config">About:config</a> which are

Security still<br>
remains greyed out.<br>

<br>
On the contrary, I do have many extensions and quite a few saved
logins but since we were talking about '<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="About:config">About:config</a>' and the
'signon*' entries in it I posted a list of those which are on my
Firefox in the file shown above in the SUSEPASTE screen capture.<br>
<br>
But your suggestions re using a new profile was a very good idea. I
don't intend at this point in time to start with a completely new
profile -- the one I now have goes way way back when I was still
using Windows -- but I did start FF with "Firefox -P" command
and.... the Remember Login feature in Security was NOT greyed out.
So thank you for this nice suggestion <span class="moz-smiley-s1"><span>
:-) </span></span>.<br>
<br>
This led to the possibility that one of the 'many' Addons was
causing the problem but NO, starting FF with the Addons disabled did
not solve the problem. I will now have to have to go to the forum to
try and get the problem solved.<br>
<br>
Thank you for your help -- greatly appreciated.<br>

Ciao,<br>
