<div dir="ltr">I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  It did uninstall some programs, but Nightly wasn't one of them, and no, I wasn't informed either before, or afterword.  64-bit all around.  The ones removed were portable apps, and they still existed on my backups, so it was just a matter of copying them over again.  I think one of them actually needed to be upgraded.  The only two bugaboos I've had yet are sound stops working (unknown process has control, really, Microsoft???  Never had this problem in Win 7!), and even with half of my 16 GB still unused, it tells me I'm running out of memory, and yes, my swap is full, even though it's 22GB...  It doesn't help when I check to see what the VM usage is that it's showing the entire addressable space of my CPU as VM. :(  On multiple processes.<br><br></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Sun, Jan 10, 2016 at 10:43 PM, Shaddy Baddah <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:lithium-cygwin@shaddybaddah.name" target="_blank">lithium-cygwin@shaddybaddah.name</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">Hi,<br>

I just performed an upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 64-bit. I had<br>
Nightly 64-bit installed under Windows 8.1. After the upgrade, I was<br>
quite confused that I could not find Nightly. It wasn't in the Programs<br>
list either. I'm quite certain it was installed, so that points to it<br>
having been uninstalled.<br>

Now that in itself is bad, but not enough for me to accuse browser war<br>
insidiousness.<br>

However what is extremely bad in my opinion is that, I also had Classic<br>
Shell (a start button replacement) installed under Windows 8.1. After<br>
the upgrade, Windows notified me that it had removed Classic Shell as it<br>
was no longer compatible.<br>

Now I'm fairly certain that I was not so notified with Nightly. It<br>
seems to point to Windows 10 being selective about which applications it<br>
notifies you it is uninstalling.<br>

Can anyone confirm this? I will try to setup a repeat performance if I<br>
can to satisfy myself that what I experienced was true. If true, is it<br>
as serious as it seems to me to be?<span class="HOEnZb"><font color="#888888"><br>
