The window appears like that on launch, no matter what I'm doing, or whether it's a browser window or the profile manager. It opens like that on whatever site is set to come up, which I can't see to change, and I've done a clean install and deleted the profiles off the hard drive, so that should be the default welcome page. I can't tell for sure, though, as there is no way to view the contents or the URL. I have not touched WebIDE, and the sizes/proportions of the windows match those of a browser window or profile manager (or update alert-it appears to be functioning normally under the hood), not a command prompt.
You may have just updated, and they might have a bug, but make sure the drivers are the latest/greatest for consistency. Check for problem. I'd also resize the window, to see if that doesn't jar something back to sanity. It can't hurt. :)

I assume you are running the 32-bit Nightly.

I'd still uninstall Nightly, nuke the c:\Program Files (X86)\Nightly subdirectory (it would be C:\Program FIles\Nightly if running 64-bit) if it still exists, nuke the C:\Users\YourUserNameHere\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla subdirectory and C:\Users\YourUserNameHere\AppData\Local\Mozilla subdirectory as well. And make sure that they are gone, completely. Even reboot the system after doing so. Then reinstalling Firefox Nightly and see if the problem still exists

And if you still see the problem, I'd file a bug report. Make sure you mention the Win 7 64-bit, the graphics card, and the version of your drivers. I'm running nVidia, so that may be why I'm not seeing the issue.

My working laptop uses Intel, so I can't even check to see what happens on my laptop that would be of any use. My other laptop has a dead hard drive, and old PATA IDE laptop drives are pretty scarce. I have a PATA IDE to Compact Flash drive adapter. I just need to get a 128GB CF card to install and run Windows 7 on now. :) Poor man's IDE SSD.

HOW are you getting the broken window? Is it just trying to open a web page and which ones, or are you trying to do something with the profile(s)? What operating system are we talking about (from the Portable description, I'd say Windows, but I'd like to make sure...) I have managed to open my 64-bit and 32-bit Windows 7 nightlies, with profile manager prompts, with no issues, of the profile manager or the web pages that I have looked at. Have you enabled the WebIDE recently, which will kick off a CMD Window before starting and at close, which may be your black broken window. Because even disabling that, the windows are still opened. I have no clue as to how the WebIDE looks on other operating systems.
Aurora worked, but now it has developed the same problem. I have not
This happens regardless of having the profile manager enabled, and I
removing all traces of Firefox from the computer, but a clean reinstall
exhibits the same issues, whether it was Nightly, Aurora, or Nightly
x64. UX does not show the same problems, and running in Safe Mode works
temporarily, but none of the reset options available through Safe Mode
have any effects; I haven't been able to figure out what Safe Mode turns
off that wouldn't be affected by a reset or reinstall. Firefox Portable
also works normally.
Does anyone have any more troubleshooting tips, or any ideas as to
what's going on here?
