The window appears like that on launch, no matter what I'm doing, or whether it's a browser window or the profile manager. It opens like that on whatever site is set to come up, which I can't see to change, and I've done a clean install and deleted the profiles off the hard drive, so that should be the default welcome page. I can't tell for sure, though, as there is no way to view the contents or the URL. I have not touched WebIDE, and the sizes/proportions of the windows match those of a browser window or profile manager (or update alert-it appears to be functioning normally under the hood), not a command prompt.

HOW are you getting the broken window? Is it just trying to open a web page and which ones, or are you trying to do something with the profile(s)? What operating system are we talking about (from the Portable description, I'd say Windows, but I'd like to make sure...) I have managed to open my 64-bit and 32-bit Windows 7 nightlies, with profile manager prompts, with no issues, of the profile manager or the web pages that I have looked at. Have you enabled the WebIDE recently, which will kick off a CMD Window before starting and at close, which may be your black broken window. Because even disabling that, the windows are still opened. I have no clue as to how the WebIDE looks on other operating systems.

On launch, for the last few weeks, I have been getting an unusably
broken window with an overly wide frame and solid black contents. It
appeared first in Nightly, then in Daily (Thunderbird). For a few days,
Aurora worked, but now it has developed the same problem. I have not
tried Beta or release.

This happens regardless of having the profile manager enabled, and I
can't see to tell which profile is enabled. I've tried uninstalling and
removing all traces of Firefox from the computer, but a clean reinstall
exhibits the same issues, whether it was Nightly, Aurora, or Nightly
x64. UX does not show the same problems, and running in Safe Mode works
temporarily, but none of the reset options available through Safe Mode
have any effects; I haven't been able to figure out what Safe Mode turns
off that wouldn't be affected by a reset or reinstall. Firefox Portable
also works normally.

Does anyone have any more troubleshooting tips, or any ideas as to
what's going on here?

Thanks,
