Well, you know, this can become quite annoying from

WHICH are the correct repositories to use for the Nightlies
(Firefox and Thunderbird/Earlybird)?

You mention the one named "latest-comm-central" as THE one
to get the "bleeding edge" version.

Now, this differs from anything which is related to the
Firefox nightlies - which is http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-aurora/
and which is what I use for the Firefox nighlies. This
repository/directory has AURORA in its directory name.

There is nothing called "latest-comm-central" in the Firefox
repositories.

When I go to update Thunderbird - installed from the
directory http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-aurora/
I mention above - I see the words "You are on the Aurora
update channel".

But you are saying that I should instead get TB from
"latest-comm-central" rather than something which has AURORA
in its repository name?

OK, I'll do this and see what happens.

Many thanks for the pointer to "latest-comm-central".

My first question to you would be what are you trying to
achieve? You should never be running the Nightly build of
either Firefox or Thunderbird as your daily version because it
can break at any time.

As you can see from my signature line, I am running Linux. Firefox
is installed as the default browser and this version is updated as
need be by the operating system.

However, I also have the Nightly FF installed in my /home directory.
Since both the "official" version and the Nightly use the same
directory for the Profile I can switch between them at will by
simply altering the path of the Firefox executable in the Firefox
application menu. If the Nightly plays up I simply switch to the
official version (12.01 as it happens) by altering the path to read
"firefox %u" (or "thunderbird %u" for TB).

I have been doing this for years now except for a break from doing
this over the past 2 years but finally decided to go back to trying
out the Nightlies to see if any error messages would be helpful to
the developers to keep FF (and TB) ahead of any competition.

Thank you very much for this list. Clarifies things for me no end.
It seems that the naming of directories/repositories has changed
while I "was away" (so speak
:-) ) because 2 years ago, and earlier, a Nightly
was a Nightly for both FF and TB - which is what confus-ed me :-) .

I saw the Nightly for Firefox and found that it installed as Aurora
and used the Aurora Channel for daily updates. Therefore I needed to
find same for Thunderbird - and that turned out to version 14.x for
which my favourite Nautipolis theme was not available (nor all other
themes as I mentioned earlier). A most interesting situation in that
Nautipolis is available for 15.x but not for 14.x - but then, the
world is full of oddities :-) .

Strangely enough, there is no such entry either in this copy of
DAILY Thunderbird I am using to write this post.
Unfortunately you are using something connected with gmail/google
and I cannot see which mail client you are using in the message
Header. I was going to say that perhaps this difference in
seeing/not seeing is caused by you (possibly) using a Windows
version of TB and me using a Linux version.

This shouldn't affect it.

Try Safe Mode?
