solve the original problem. 'Something' is causing your problem and it<br>
might, if you do what ever it was that caused this,again it will just<br>
come back. Better, IMO, to find the problem and solve it by eliminating it.<br></blockquote><div><br>But exactly what is "it" that is causing it? I've installed and uninstalled lots of programs. I've optimized my registry, my hard drive, the services that my computer runs. I've run multiple online and offline virus and trojan scanners and rootkit revealers from both Windows and Linux boot cds/dvds, which never seem to find anything. The install is coming up on being two years old. Resmon is the only program that sees an issue. I've been running multiple system performance programs, and when it happens, they don't see any kind of problem. I can whip other people's computers into shape to brand new speed without reinstalling. I've been able to figure out viruses that haven't even made it into the vendors' signature files. And I've been doing so for decades.<br>
<br>I suspect that it's a corrupted DLL somewhere in system32 land. And with close to 2000 of those in that location, it's rather hard. And I can't even be sure that's it's a DLL that FF is using that is causing the problem.<br>

These issues I can not relate too but, for example, I am currently<br>
watching a CBS streaming video Of Friday nights CDS-NY and Firefox<br>
11.0a1 is using 208+ K.<br>

My *guess* (note the word) would be that something else is running and<br>
causing this problem. I, personelly, have to really hammer on Firefox<br>
(which I do from time to time) to get anywhere near what you say that<br>
you see on a regular basis. Do you use a 'virus scanner' that looks at<br>
everything all of the time? That activity, while it can be helpful can<br>
slow things down and be memory hogs.<br></blockquote><div><br>Oh, I've ran some that do. I'm using MSE, which seems to stay out of the way most of the time, although sometimes it seems to be unable to stop scanning certain programs, FF isn't one of them, and I don't run those programs that MSE keeps spending a whole core on examining.<br>

As can third party 'task bars' and 'helper's. I use Gmail also and it<br>
does *not* cause problems such as you describe.<br></blockquote><div><br>Gmail itself doesn't cause the issue. Gmail, if you are using the fully featured version with a few Lab features turned on really sucks the memory, but in my situation, I shouldn't really notice it. Currently I've only got two thirds of my memory in use according to Resmon. about:memory has me using 600K explicitly right now, and that's with two tabs open. As I stated, there is no doubt that the problem I'm experiencing with slowdowns is due to my system, not specifically to FF (although it's most visible because I use FF 90% of the time I'm on my computer). I run no tool bars, although the extensions I run are numerous, and running a stripped down Nightly does nothing to change the problem either.<br>
