I select Google news. While that is loading (slow DSL), I open a new tab with the local newspaper site. Immediately, open a new tab with the dealnews.com site. Immediately open a new tab with Yahoo mail login site. I then click on the initial Google news tab to make that tab show. So now I have four tabs up and the Google News one is showing. Quickly a prompt for the master password appears because the last two sites (dealnews and the mail site) both have remembered logins and passwords. I enter the master
password.

Google news is still showing with it and the other three tabs all showing in one window. If and when I select the mail tab after it has fully loaded, no login/password is presented automatically. This is normal as I have three login/password combinations remembered for the mail site.

I then click in the "login" field in the mail window. What should show are three choices so I can select one of them. Sometimes this happens and when I select one, the login and password are automatically filled in. However, most of the time, when I click in the login field, none of the choices shows up OR a remembered "forms list" set of choices shows up. This latter list shows numerous choices. If I simply refresh the tab, it ALWAYS works properly.

If instead of doing that bit of bringing up the mail tab then going back to the Google mail tab, I instead leave the mail tab to finish loading, it ALWAYS works properly.

In

If I understand you correctly, the problem in general is that passwords are not saved for SOME inactive tabs. In Firefox 4+ we no longer restore all tabs on startup, instead restoring 3 tabs at a time by default. I'm wondering if this feature
might be inadvertently causing your problem.

CCing Paul O'Shannessy on this thread as he's the developer of the Defferred and Cascade session restore features. This may be attributed to the site presenting one web page then automatically switching to another.

That problem no longer exists with Nightly. Now I get a single prompt for the master password. However, intermittently fail to get the user name and password filled in. If I refresh the site, then it works 100% of the time. When it fails, one of two things happens:
1) No user name or password is entered. If I click on the username portion of the form, nothing happens
2) No
login or password is entered by Nightly. If I click on the login portion of the form, I am given a choice of "remembered" entries much bigger than the list of logins. If I select one of the ones that have the password attached, no password is entered.

I have experimented and found that this problem occurs only if the tab is not the active one. So, for example, I open one tab, then quickly a second, then a third then a fourth then select the first. The fourth, the one needing a login/password is now not the active window. Then the prompt for master password comes up and I enter it. A few moments later, I go to that fourth tab. When I select the login entry, I will about 75% of the time have one of the above problems and the remainder work correctly. If I do not go to one of the other windows but remain on the fourth until it comes up, it works correctly 100% of the time.

John

_______________________________________________
