In previous versions of Firefox, when typing a search criterion in the Google Toolbar search, the suggestions come up in a list below. A user could navigate to a suggested search string simply by clicking on the item in the list. One click that would select the item, fill in the search window, and navigate to the page that contained the first set of hits for the selected string.

Now, when the user types the first few characters for a criterion, the list of suggested strings is displayed below as before. However, a click on an item in the list, simply stops the process. The window displays only what is typed by the user, the list disappears, and no navigation occurs.

However, if the user types the first characters and the list appears, the user can select an item by using the arrow keys to highlight a selection, and Firefox will navigate to the selection when the Enter key is pressed.

I do a great deal of research, and though this may seem like a nit-picky issue, it is one more interruption in a thought process following a thread.

--
Ric Thayer
(814) 881-0713
