Hi Svaksha

Thanks for clarifying, I must know a lot of power git users and haven't actually checked the UI situation since we decided to stick with other wikis in 2010 so no doubt editing features have improved substantially!

I still think there is a barrier to non-techy people in using github but for this particular purpose newcomers are the audience and most contributors are likely to be familiar with the platform so it's fine.

I'm glad you found the links interesting, if there is a consensus on contributing to Camille's resource [1], I can send the link with a request for contributions to the OK open science group and via the Open Science Federation.

Jenny

[1] https://github.com/camillescott/oarr-compendium/tree/gh-pages

On Wed, Sep 17, 2014 at 9:16 AM, SVAKSHA <svaksha@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Jenny,
Just thought I should mention that if you are using github (or
gitlab), they allow git access to the wiki - that means the power git
user can contribute to the wiki pages via git, and folks who hate git
can use the UI - all they need is a github ID. Everyone wins :)
Since the format used is (a modified) markdown, it should not be
super hard to move away to another wiki format that also uses a
similar format.
