Do consider providing integration support for other git hosting
services like gitlab.com and bitbucket, both of which offer private
repos - crucial for scientists who may not like to go open from the
start. For those initial effors it helps to have a private
collaborative space. In addition, gitlab.com  is licensed as free
software so you could simply host it on your server to provide user
