Anyway, the following is pretty bizarre :)  I'm updating Nightly nearly every day.  Just did that, just in case, and the pref is at false - a new default, right after I posted this complain!  OTOH, I may recall some fluctuations in the past between the old and the new (modal) behavior being enabled - isn't there some telemetry experiment going on that would still flip my defaults?.<br>

Because for a decent number of releases (many months back) highlight has been behaving erratically, the search results (and arrows enabling) don't update on page navigation, and probably more small details making one's life harder.  And I could say the problems are getting worse as times passes by, not better.  All these issues are so obvious that I didn't start filing bugs, but it seems like I should?<br>
