Yet at the same time, they might not have a strong enough understanding to correctly use the tools provided. Often, if it looks secure, it’s also presumed to work securely. So we have two tough tasks: 1) teaching the right priv/sec mental model, and 2) designing a UX that wraps these expectations, hopes and fears in an easy to use interface.

PS. Another low hanging fruit we can test is private browsing tabs. Safari already
does it, we have an add-on for it, and OriginAttributes might make it
easier to build than before. Can we then run a test without building
anything? Does private browsing tabs matches user’s expectation of how
PBM should work? Are they happier when using private tabs vs. normal
PBM?

On 4 February 2017 at 09:39, Tom Ritter <tom@mozilla.com> wrote:

On Fri, Feb 3, 2017 at 11:15 AM, Gijs Kruitbosch
Seriously though, Ethan and others have been working very hard at
bringing in tor patches and basically providing all or nearly all of
the anti-tracking features in Tor browser via OriginAttributes[0].
The next major focus will be on Anti-Fingerprinting[1], and there's
discussion about potentially making the lot of them enabled with a
checkbox over here:

Finally, what I believe is the 'next step' for exploring a true Tor
integration in FF is creating an experimental add-on that packages tor
and makes measurements and telemetry. No one is actively working on
this (yet), but if anyone is interested in helping, even if its
slapping together the bare framework of an extension that launches the
binary[2], let me know!
