Right, although this proposal isn't part of the "Great or Dead" program.
I'm proposing it per my responsibility as module owner/peer to seek the
best possible outcome for the code under my control.<br>

FWIW, I'm not sure the runtimes could be made "great," given the
significant (and growing) constraints imposed by the various platforms
that it supports. However, I'm pretty sure it could be made "good," at
least for a subset of users who are willing to accommodate or work
around those constraints.<br>
<br>
Regardless, it won't be either without investment, and there's been no
prospect of such investment for years. So it's already been implicitly
killed and exists in a kind of undead state. Presumably it would
eventually be explicitly killed by the "Great or Dead" program, but it's
my Lennie, and I feel responsible for doing so myself.<br>
