I like that proposal except for the whole thing of removing the
permission for fullscreen.
In my opinion, it should be possible to make a website stop
bothering about fullscreen.

E.g.
An advertisement website thinks of a new way to call their
attention. Use fullscreen to make their ad stand out.
Given that, on every single situation that the browser accepts the
"requestFullscreen" to be called, here it comes calling it.

Doesn't it become annoying that that happen like that and you can't
do anything about it?

With that in mind, I'd recommend keeping that suggestion made but
also allow blocking source scripts from requesting fullscreen by
accessing about:permissions or selecting page permissions on the
left side of the URL (or something like that).

Alternatively, if the user is using Esc too many times per minute
(the actual number need to to through testing) and staying on the
webpage, then there should be a "cool off" time on the requests made
by that source.

Suggestions?

Bug 1160023 is making some significant changes to our
full-screen UX. You can try out the current implementation
in Nightly (it just landed a day or two ago), or peruse the

There are some significant security considerations with
full-screen mode, and the notification banner isn't going to
go away entirely. But it's a bit lighter now, and the
experience seems significantly better.
