<div dir="ltr"><div>I haven't really seen this mentioned here, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's come up before: why not make the addon bar into something more generic that can be placed on any edge of the window? <br>
<br>There's a simple need for icons when you have addons to interact with, and there's not a lot of space with the address bar there - but I find it strange that the current addon toolbar has to be at the bottom. Personally I'd much rather have it either to the left or the right of my screen, with a column of addons in it, or just below the address bar where the rest of the UI is located.<br>
<br></div><div>I found myself wishing for something like this when I recently tried out the Facebook integration. This adds a number of buttons next to the address bar - so many in fact, that I eventually decided to get rid of it to reclaim the space they took up (the other reason I disabled it was that it didn't track my timeline, making it not very useful).<br>
</div><div><br></div><div>The current addon toolbar seems like a special case because it's not very tall (looking much like the status bar of old). But a more generic toolbar could simply be as wide or as tall as the widest or tallest icon on there, and could use the same API as is used for placing icons next to the address bar - perhaps even default to placing them there, since the user could move them easily enough.<br>
<br></div><div>Has this come up in discussion? What's the UI team's stance on this?<br></div><div><br></div><div>Regards,<br><br></div><div>Emanuel Hoogeveen<br></div></div>
