I'm interested to know what causes of corrupt downloads exist that can't be already detected by other means (network disconnects during transfer for example)? How many servers actually include a digest for file downloads?

Firefox would automatically use the hash of a file given in a HTTP header field

Digest: SHA=thvDyvhfIqlvFe+A9MYgxAfm1q5=

instead of a user manually verifying a file's hash, from the terminal
or otherwise, to see if it transferred correctly.

I think that would cut out a lot of support issues for projects that
deal with downloads and errors.
