You mean that all of these blocking calls would accidentally let the event
loop continue when they occur, and add continuing the stack to the event
loop? Seems like an odd coincidence. What have I done, really sorry not to
report this earlier... -.-

If it really is a bug, I have a pretty good guess of how it came to exist,
and think this bug is a relevant one:
