Hello,
In case you are an add-on developer or use Firefox add-ons in your
deployments please read through this communication from the Firefox add-ons
team regarding changes to the extensions and themes signing:
Mozilla has recently upgraded the signing
<https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/Distribution> for
Firefox extensions and themes to provide a stronger signature. All
extension versions signed after April 5, 2019 have this signature, and we
plan to deprecate the old signature with Firefox 70
<https://wiki.mozilla.org/Release_Management/Calendar>. Firefox 70 will
become available on pre-release channels
<https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/desktop/> starting with Nightly
<https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/all/> on July 7 and Beta
<https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/all/> on September 3, and will be
released on October 22.
In order for your extension to continue working for users who upgrade to
Firefox 70, please sign into your developer account at addons.mozilla.org
and upload a new version of your extension. This version will be signed
with the upgraded signature. Then, make sure your users update to this new
version. The new signatures are backwards compatible with older versions of
Firefox, including ESR 68 <https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/enterprise/> or
ESR60, so all supported versions of Firefox should work with the newly
signed versions of your extension.
While we expect to support the old signature format on Firefox ESR 68
through its end of life, we do not guarantee it. We recommend that all
extensions be re-signed soon with the stronger signature.
Regards,
The Add-ons Team
