[Mozilla Enterprise] Disable automatic Update and Update Notifications

Would Mozilla consider reinstating that preference. Organizations like the one I work for rely on that preference because of the times we push out new Firefox versions. We need the ability to disable Automatic updates easily. My organization uses CCK2 and have no dates set to start using GPO policies.

Thanks,
Justin Anderson

You have to use the JSON file or policies.

We've removed the ability to easily turn off updates with preferences, as it was creating problems where users were stuck on older versions.

Hello,

in FF 60 ESR i used

lockPref("app.update.enabled", false);
lockPref("app.update.auto", false);
lockPref("app.update.service.enabled", false);

to disable automatic Updates of Firefox. But this does not work anymore. I’ve read that “app.update.enabled” has been removed and found this reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/bxuvsn/how_to_completely_block_update_checks/ where the solution is to create a file called "policies.json" but it would be nice to stick with the config.cfg file.

Please help. ☺
