[Mozilla Enterprise] Upgrading from 60.8.0 32-bit to 68.0.1 64-bit breaks user profiles

We've been having our electronic software distribution team package new versions of ESR as they are released, and recently we decided to move from the 32-bit version to the 64-bit version. We discovered that installing the 64-bit version does not automatically uninstall the 32-bit version. So, we had our ESD team include an uninstall command in the package, to remove the 32-bit version after installing the 64-bit version.

This was working okay - users' profiles, including bookmarks were carried over from the 32-bit version to the 64-bit version. That is, until we got to version 68.0.1. Our ESD Team packaged 68.0.1, then tested installing it over the 32-bit 60.8.1 version, and after uninstalling the 32-bit version, found the user's profile was no longer there.

Is this something that can be addressed (retaining the user profile)? Also, why doesn't installing a 64-bit version of ESR automatically remove existing 32-bit versions, and retain the users' profiles? This just seems like a logical thing to do.

Also, it looks like users on 60.8.0 don't get updated to 68.0.1 when checking for updates via the Help / About menu option. Is this by design? Are we going to have to push 68.0.1 to users, to upgrade them?
