<div dir="ltr">Thanks for sharing this, Ryan. If it would be valuable to post another survey somewhere in the /firstrun flow, that's a possibility.<div><br></div><div>We've learned a lot about how to increase engagement with the accounts sign-up CTA over the past few incremental tests and we'll continue to work together on upcoming iterations. For the rest of the group: the next iteration of the UI embeds the sign-up form directly into the page which we hope will increase engagement even more vs. hiding the form behind the CTA. Thanks to Shane for working with us to make embedding the form in an iframe possible. (this also gives us opportunities across Mozilla.org to easily embed the sign-up form if this is ever necessary, not just on /firstrun) <div><br></div><div>Agreed that we don't necessarily want users to think that this step is mandatory, but hopefully we can communicate the benefits of sync clearly enough that they will see how this is a valuable part of the set up process and being a Firefox user. We don't just want sign-ups, we want users that understand what signing up for an account does. We have an opportunity to test different copy variations on /firstrun and it looks like the survey results can give us guidance for this. Michael Verdi also has great ideas for more seamlessly integrating accounts sign-up into the stub installer + set-up flow. The incremental tests on /firstrun allow us to learn more before making any changes that involve more than a web page.</div><div><br></div><div>As far as keeping us all informed and collaborating goes, every Monday there is a meeting dedicated to all things First Run that Rfeeley and Edwong have been attending. Stomlinson (Accounts dev) and Jpetto (web engineering / growth team) have worked closely on the iframe project. Any time a change is made we're all pretty good about asking if everyone has been informed, cc'ing each other on bugs, and sharing copy changes to make sure they are consistent between products and pages. However, it's something to always keep in check. If there is an Accounts-related meeting that I should attend as one more way to keep in touch, feel free to add me. </div><div><br></div><div>Also, +1 on better measuring and understanding <span style="font-size:12.8000001907349px">the core value </span><span style="font-size:12.8000001907349px">proposition of sync. </div></div>Indeed.<br>
<br>
I'm attaching a numbers-redacted version of my current favorite graph,<br>
which shows the rate of new FxA account creations per day. The baseline<br>
rate *doubled* after the Fx38 release, due almost entirely to the Growth<br>
team's improvements to the firstrun onboarding flow.<br>
<br>
After that experience, I'm 100% sold on the power of a great onboarding<br>
experience, and we'll be focusing a lot more effort on it for the second<br>
half of the year.<br>
<br>
Two things I'd like to see coming out of this discussion:<br>
<br>
1) Some explicit way for Ryan and John, Holly and the Growth team, and<br>
Ben and the Engagement team to all stay in sync on these efforts<br>
over the course of the quarter. Y'all likely have a forum for this<br>
already, but I don't have good visibility into it, and I want to<br>
ensure it has full support from the engineering side.<br>
<br>
2) A graph like the attached, but properly measuring the core value<br>
proposition of sync: "new multi-device sync setups per day".<br>
<br>
Delivering (2) will be a short-term engineering priority for the team.<br>
<br>
<br>
Cheers,<br>
<br>
